
"I wanted to build my brand up more and break barriers in the game," he continued. "L.A. Reid seen my vision and Shakir [Stewart], Lenny S and all of them over there [at Def Jam] seen my vision and gave me an opportunity to be their partners."
With a new record dropping on Koch this fall and a label deal through Def Jam, Khaled felt it was time to trade in his signature catchphrase, "we the best," for a new slogan.
"Right now we hit 'em with that 'we global' now, 'we global, we international,' he explained. "We the best' is never going no where. That's the name of company [but by] being the best you end up being global. You end up touching masses of people and that's what we the best did."
DJ Khaled's new album, We Global, is scheduled to hit stores on September 9th.
