Its sad that here in Chi-city the crime rate is steadily rising due to murders on children and young adults. Its sad and upsetting that in the 'hoods' violence is an everlasting nagging sore that as soon as the healing process begins the scab keeps getting knocked off and becomes reinfected. Big homie KRS-ONE even came through to talk to the youth and the people in the community to promote his Stop the Violence campaign to possibly spark "collective consciousness" and get the people to maybe realize that its about the overall wellness of everyone. He even did a panel discussion where they brought up the known problems in the community(typical) and what we as a people can do(nothing new). I've been to many discussions and it seems that during and after people want to change things and are amped to do it, but then it seems like it looses steam over time. Like I told my comrade these are problems that were here before us and may continue after we are dead and gone. This country was found on violence, dont blame it on Hip Hop it was here before that. Dont blame it on people of color, it was here before we were captured and brought. Just this week a girl who was a Med student was shot in the arm by a car that pulled up beside her while she was sitting in her car. She ended up dying at the hospital. SENSELESS. 5 poeple on the South Side killed in their home and the people werent known to be bad folks. WTF!? Unfortunately this is not just a Chicago problem its happening in Philly, Houston,Nashville, DC, Detroit... Im usually pretty calm about things but IM PISSED OFF about this because there are individuals out there that have no regard for their lives so they could careless about taking somebody elses(remember the character Bishop in 'Juice'?) There are alot off actors that (could)play a part in the rising violence. I believe that overall its a lack of self-esteem/hope and police mistrust. If you have these then you couldn't possibly think about randomly killing someone for reasons i.e. he got something I want, he looked at me wrong, gang initiation, etc. Its ALL stupid. Again I reinterate that this is not something new. Its been going on sense before most of us were even thought of.Alot of times people feel we need this mass movement or we need a leader to follow. KRS-ONE said it best "I am only touring these communites, but you have a better grasp of what you need because you live there. What are you doing day to day to help better your life and those around you." What's the quote "Be the change you want to see happen." So that means it starts with you/us/WE.

It starts with making sure you are doing your part by being a positive family member, being amentor to a young man/woman and helping them to avoid the mistakes so many children AND adults have made and continue to make in life. Here's another quote "Mistakes are like knives if handled improperly they will do harm, but if handled properly will be a wonderful tool." This is only the 1st installment...so keep ya eyes open and ya screens steady...cuz we got lots to do people....p.e.a.c.e.(positive education always createselevation)
